A fantastic £8,000.00 was raised at a well attended “gentlemen’s evening” for a Rugby For Heroes charity event on Wednesday night. Hosted by Patron Mike Tindall, MBE, sponsored by, and held at Spice Lodge, in conjunction with Adjacency, it was aimed at business leaders in the Gloucestershire area. Other dignitaries and internationals from the sporting world, such as Dafydd James, Thinus Delport and Jim Hamilton were also in attendance.
The Aim of the night was to raise the profile of Rugby for Heroes (a charity that helps ex-servicemen transition into civvy life), hold a Q & A session and a charity auction for them as well as entertain Adjacency’s clients. A colourful selection of memorabilia, framed photos and other items were on offer for the auction.
Rugby for Heroes offers a Transition Through Rugby Course. The aim of the course is to support military service men and women through the sport of rugby. Players provide professional expertise guidance and mentoring to help develop core life skills, teamwork, a greater depth and knowledge of the sport.
The course is open to any serving or former member of the armed forces, irrelevant of rank and service background.
On completion of the course the individual will be qualified to apply the principles of safe and effective management, coach players of differing age groups and fully integrate within a local rugby club
