Shami Chakrabati CBE Spices Up Her Life

Mohammed Rahman was honoured to welcome Shami Chakrabati, C.B.E. at Spice Lodge for lunch on Saturday, prior to her appearance at the Cheltenham Literature Festival.   Shami said she enjoyed “a wonderful, wonderful meal”. She enjoyed her meal so much that in the evening she returned with Ali Smith, who was interviewing her and also promoting her book, for dinner! ”  What better endorsement could the Spice Lodge have?

Since 2003 she has been Director of Liberty British Civil Liberties advocacy organization and in September 2014 she became Chancellor of the Universities of Essex.

Ali Smith interviewed her at the Festival on Saturday evening and was given a very warm reception.   She is the winner of 4 literary awards and shortlisted for many others, including Man Booker Prize.   How to Be Both is one of the most talked about novels last year.

Shami is just one of the many personalities who choose Spice Lodge for a special meal during the Festival.
